OUR BACK STORY
Sugar Heal is all about finding creative solutions. Our first office was the backyard of a close friend who decided to flee Los Angeles in order to spend the pandemic with family in Hawaii. Our current place is located in a commercial office building that we use on alternating days. For team meetings we usually gather at our favorite park cafe. We are proud to say that, regardless of any challenges faced, Sugar Heal has been able to provide over $300,000 worth of holistic maternity services to 80+ Black and Indigenous birthing families in Los Angeles County (at no cost to the families served).
OUR VISION
Sugar Heal Gang is ready to take the next step and would like to open its own community healing center.
The time is now. With the long-standing Black maternal health care crisis in the US (made worse during the pandemic), along with the recent overturn of Roe v. Wade, many families are turning to alternative solutions for maternity care. Sugar Heal specializes in holistic gynecology and offers one-of-a-kind services for maternity, pregnancy loss recovery, pre and post abortion care, preterm labor preventative care and more. In order for us to offer our services more efficiently, scale up and sustain the impact we are having in our community, we need a new location. In our wildest dreams this location is a sanctuary of peace, laughter, exultation, joy and delight. We feel our community of birthing families deserve nothing less than the best.

Should we try to apply and qualify for a property as individuals or would one of our funders be willing to apply as a guarantor and send in monthly payments on our behalf in lieu of donating to SHG directly?
