Black Maternal Health Fund
Our Mission.
Statistics from the Centers for Disease Control report that Black women in the US are three to four times more likely to die from complications of childbirth than white women. These preventable deaths occur regardless of income or education levels and speak to the deep-seeded racism in the US health care system.
The Black Maternal Health Fund started in 2020 as an increasing amount of Black mothers in our community were choosing to birth at home due to inequality in hospitals, the Covid-19 pandemic or both. The funds we raise directly support birth workers in being able to offer high quality, culturally competent maternity care services to Black and Indigenous families in Los Angeles at no cost.
We are proud to say that we have raised over $1M in order to provide free holistic health services to 100+ families in our community. To sustain our impact and launch a healing center in Los Angeles we are seeking $2M per year for the next 5 years. We are appreciative of any amount contributed
in support of reaching this goal.
100% of your donation goes towards offering holistic maternity care services to Black & Indigenous families in Los Angeles County at no cost.
